Products made in the USA are available in many of the stores you already frequent. As I make my way though the store directory, I am finding all kinds of hidden gems in typical stores that are American made. Buying more products made in the USA is just the beginning. The more we know about the implications of our actions, the better armed we are to become ethical consumers. Start by checking labels, asking more questions and educating yourself.

As far as consumer goods are concerned, I won’t lie and tell you it’s easy to only buy locally made, some products are really hard to find but believe me, once you start seeking out to buy Canadian or American intentionally, you will not be able shop like you used to ever again. As a Canadian, I still throw in a lot of made in the USA stuff simply because between our two countries, we manufacture more than enough of what I need and I never have to settle on anything “just because”.

As I sat in my car today, driving to the office, it occurred to me that I was surrounded by – and wearing almost exclusively – made in Canada and made in USA goods. Unlike a lot of people out there, I actually practice what I… rant and rave about ;) Here are some of the different brands I buy. Most of these companies are on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube as well.
